Treemap in DataInsider

Updated: Aug 21, 2021

1. WHAT IS A TREEMAP?

Treemap is a visualizing method for displaying hierarchical data that uses nested rectangles to represent the branches of a tree diagram.

Unlike Heatmap - which represents the data values by the levels of color, Treemap displays data values by the size of the rectangles.

2. WHEN TO USE TREEMAPS?

Treemaps are used to display data that is grouped and nested in a hierarchical (or tree-based) structure.

Consider using Treemaps when you want to showcase the data that are significant in a specific category :

  • You want to visualize a part-to-whole relationship amongst a large number of categories.

  • Precise comparisons between categories are not important.

  • The data is hierarchical.

3. STEP BY STEP GUIDANCE WITH Data Insider :

Step 1. Drag Order Status to Legend

Step 2. Drag Order Count to Value
